Local business owners and Architects, Brittany Johnson (of Trio Design Inc.) and Darin Mano (of Raw Design Studio), have merged their firms to form Uncommon Architects, LLC. The merger is official as of March 1st, 2023. Trio Design Inc., established in 2014, has a vast portfolio including institutional, religious, commercial, and residential projects. Raw Design Studio, formed in 2012, has an equally impressive portfolio with a focus on medical, office, multi-family and historical preservation work. Together, Uncommon Architects aim to strengthen client and community relationships and provide an even higher level of service than their clients have already come to expect from Trio Design and Raw Design Studio.
As a woman and minority-owned business, Uncommon Architects are proud to have an exceptionally diverse and highly skilled staff. With various educational, cultural, and professional backgrounds, the team brings unique perspectives and experiences to all projects.

As for the Principals, Brittany and Darin met as undergrad students at the University of Utah and stayed connected through AIA Conferences. They swapped business advice over the years and realized they shared common values and goals and complementary skill sets. Joining forces just made sense. We reject the traditional practice of a top-down master architect, where all ideas originate from one place. Instead, the youngest members of our team are invited into the design process, and the client's ideas are just as valuable as our own.
