Uncommon Profiles: Jae Hyun
Say “hello” to Jae Hyun.
We sat down with Jae and asked him a few questions so everyone could get to know this exceptionally talented architect a little better.
How long have you worked in Architecture?
I’ve been in architecture for over 7 years.
If you could travel back in time and pick any other era to design in, which would it be?
I would love to travel back to the "Silla Dynasty" era (which existed from 57 BC to 935 AD in Korea) and design during that time. Since it’s the hometown where I grew up and I was surrounded by many artifacts, temples, and royal palaces, I think it would be fascinating to experience that era and create designs influenced by it.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy playing golf and various other sports, as well as watching them. I also love doing outdoor activities with my kids.
What advice would you go back and give to yourself as a day-one architect?
When I look back at myself on the first day, I remember feeling really nervous and worried. Maybe that's why I would tell myself, "Don’t be so scared, just work hard and do your best!"
Where do you find your creative inspiration?
I draw a lot of inspiration from the works of other famous architects, as well as industrial design and furniture. I enjoy actively seeking them out and exploring new ideas.
Thanks, Jae!
